Hors D'Oeuvre

Beef Croquettes

Ingredients: 
  • 1 kg lean minced beef 
  • 2 onions, chopped 
  • 4 green chillies, chopped 
  • ¼ spoon clove powder 
  • 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder 
  • ¼ spoon black pepper powder 
  • 6 garlic cloves, chopped 
  • 1 inch ginger chopped 
  • 1-2 slices bread 
  • 2 tbsp vinegar 
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten 
  • chopped coriander 
  • Breadcrumbs for coating 
  • Salt as needed

Method:
  1. In a saucepan, cook together the mince, onions, chillies and spices.  Cook until all the water is absorbed and mince is dry. 
  2. Grind the meat and coriander in a blender.  Add the bread and the lightly beaten egg.  Mash everything together. 
  3. Shape the meat into small cocktail sausages, dip in the lightly beaten egg and coat with breadcrumbs. 
  4. Shallow fry in oil until golden brown.

Makes 12 servings.
